Heather McMahon Takes Honors For Diversity Essay

Congratulation goes out to Heather McMahon who received third place honors in the CPCU Society’s 2013 Diversity Essay Contest.  The topic she addressed was “How can we attract and leverage the diverse talents of four generations in the insurance industry and the CPCU Society.”  She was awarded a $300 cash award and plaque, which she received in October at the 2013 Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Karen Miller Re-Appointed to CPCU Ethics Committee

Congratulations to Presque Isle Chapter member Karen Ann Miller for her re-appointment to the CPCU Society’s Ethics Committee.  This is Karen’s fourth consecutive three year term.  The Ethics Committee is comprised of 14 members and a liaison from the Institute who serves as the Institute’s ethics counsel.  The members of the Ethics Committee are from insurance companies, principals of agencies, brokers, claims professionals, attorneys, and other insurance professionals each representing different perspectives.

CPCU Electives

This program change provides new opportunities for your chapter’s candidate development program!

The CPCU program now includes an elective component as a part of its education requirement. Individuals pursuing the CPCU designation will select one elective course from among 10 options in seven functional areas. Courses in the eight-part CPCU designation program now include four foundation courses, one elective course and three concentration courses (personal or commercial). The elective choices are as follows:
